We place a lot of emphasis in Kingsisland on giving the children responsibility for taking ownership of their school. As a result the children came up with the idea of painting another huge exterior wall mural depicting
the indigenous and endangered curlew, centre stage, and in the hands of our local community.We are very lucky to have a pair of nesting curlews, which we have been learning about, in the field next door to the school. If you look closely you will see many other local wild life species in the mural.
What better way to learn and understand about the need to care for and protect our local environment than by painting a child inspired mural to convey the message.
Needless to say, the children are absolutely loving the project.
