School Background
St. John’s Primary School, Kingsisland was built in 1967 to replace the old school building. It is
situated in the picturesque townland of Derrytresk, a rural setting on the south-western shore
of Lough Neagh about 3 miles from Coalisland.
The School is situated adjacent to St Columcille's Church Kingsisland and plays a focal part in
the life of the community.
Most of our pupils come from the surrounding localities of Derrytresk, Derryloughan, Clonoe
and Coalisland.
The school’s greatest resource is a professional, dedicated and caring staff which is committed
to the achievement of high standards and care of its pupils.
The school prides itself on its warm, welcoming friendly atmosphere. We are a very family
oriented community, with priests, staff and parents working together to create the best
possible learning environment for our children.
