Christmas Cup

18 December 2025 (by Philip O'Neill (admin))

Today Primary 4 and 5 took to the 3G to participate in the annual Christmas Cup. A highlight of each and every school year, today was no exception.

With excellent teamwork, no shortage of skill and bucket loads of passion, the girls and boys put on a display for the ages!
North African kingpins Morocco, South American heavyweights Brazil and Argentina, and European luminaries Germany, Ireland and Greece competed in a ferocious exhibition of the beautiful game.
Whilst Ireland and Germany were desperately unlucky to lose out on qualification from the group stages to Greece on goal difference, Argentina, Morocco and Brazil qualified with room to spare. However the form book was ripped to shreds as the Greeks high tailed their way past Morocco on penalties to the cup final against the mighty Argentina. Morocco then defeated Brazil with a solitary goal to win the shield.
An epic tussle ensued which saw Greece defeat their Southern Hemisphere adversaries 4-3 in a game where, despite the scoreline, both goalkeepers were exceptional. A big shout out to our P3 boys who competed today and to Caiden and Maria who were outstanding from Primary 4, and to Joseph and Cillian who excelled between the sticks for their sides. Teamwork, communication and cooperation were to the fore right across our 3 hour festival of football, and the talk has already started for the Easter Cup 2026! All we can say is watch this space!
Merry Christmas everyone </div><div>Link: <a href=https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1380603593860550&set=pcb.1380605593860350
