It’s only raining a bit heavy” “We don’t mind getting wet” “When’s it going to stop raining?” Only a select few of today’s quotes from our P5-7 pupils who were keen to get taking part in the end of term tournament.
There were many amateur weather reporters throughout the day, but eventually in the afternoon much to everyone’s delight, it did stop raining!
With just enough time for the football we got started with a tight group stage!
Italy, France, Scotland and Spain advanced to the Cup semi finals, with Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal in the shield semi finals!
After a few cagey group stage games, the goals started to flow in the semi finals.
Germany and Netherlands advanced to the Shield final and it was Brendan in P7 who led by example all tournament to get the winning goals in the final.
The Cup final between Italy and Scotland was a classic. With 30 seconds remaining it was 2-2 but 2 goals were rattled with Cameron instrumental in winning the Cup for Italy.
There was just about enough time to give out some awards and it was the P5’s who were picked out!
Golden glove for best goalkeeper went to Alfie.
Awards for those who stood out for playing in the right spirit were also given to Caolan and Muireann. The younger children on this occasion really showing the others how it’s done
