Sports Day Results Finally the wait is over! After careful scorekeeping from the teachers and final calculations from Master O'Neill, we found out the winners of our Sports Week today! The anticipation over the past week has been building and the children waited eagerly to hear their team score. With just a point to win and take the cup the Yellow team seized the day and erupted in celebration as they claimed the Master Morgan Cup. Yellow ribbons will now remain on the cup but I wonder what coloured ribbons will be on the cup next year? The children all applauded the winning team and enjoyed talking about the fun they had taking part in Sports Week! It's the taking part that counts! |
BUZZ BUZZ Today the Primary 4 children had a very special treat indeed! Kor's Dad Jelmar visited the school to teach the boys and girls all about being a Bee Keeper. He brought along some bees for us to look at and told us lots of very interesting facts about bees. The children got to hold two live male drones as they cannot sting. We even got to taste some of the delicious honey straight from the hive. Thank you so much Jelmar for such a fascinating morning! |
Funtasia Visit Primary 4 and 5 had a fantastic trip to Funtasia water park in Drogheda today. The children also enjoyed some crazy golf and a visit to the reptile zoo. They were impeccably behaved as always.

Goodbye P7's Today we said goodbye to our Magnificent 7 primary 7's. It just seems like yesterday that we were greeting them as little primary 1 pupils. We have watched them grow and mature in to fine upstanding members of our school community. We are so sorry to see them leave Kingsisland. They have been a fantastic class all through their primary classes. Today's celebration was a perfect way to end their School days at Kingsisland. We wish them every success in their new secondary schools. |

P7 Assembly Primary 7 pupils performed at beautiful assembly in the chapel today. P7 pupils thanked everyone for all the support and kindness shown to them during their time at Kingsisland. They said prayers and sang some beautiful hymns. |

P1 Visit Fire Station What a fun day P1 & P2 had today visiting the fire station in Dungannon. Thank you to Mark who taught us all about fire safety and even allowed us to see inside the fire engine! We even got to use the hose and be a like a real firefighter. We have some potential firefighters in the making

P4/5 GAA Blitz Kingsisland held our annual primary 4 & 5 gaa blitz today in Derrytresk. We were blessed with fantastic weather as we we welcomed Carland and Collegeland primary schools. Everyone played their hearts out and had a brilliant morning. Thank you to Derrytresk for having all the pitches set up before we arrived and to all our hard working staff who helped make the day a success. |
Wear your helmet!!! Primary 6 & 7 were learning the importance of wearing a helmet when cycling. We did the 'Egg Test Experiment' , an egg wearing a helmet and the other egg not. We dropped both eggs to the ground and the children were unanimous in declaring that they would always wear the helmet when they saw the remains of the smashed egg.. A super learning experience |

Leap for Luke Today Kingsisland was a sea of blue as all the boys and girls wore blue clothes for 'Wacky Blue Day' in aid of the charity Leap For Luke. Luke gave stickers and badges to everyone in school and we all had great fun being wacky...including the teachers! |

Induction Day for New P1's Today we welcomed our 25 new primary 1 pupils that will be joining us in September. Everyone had a super morning getting to know our newest pupils. What a lovely, bubbly and enthusiastic group of new Kingsisland pupils!!!!! |

Book Fair There was a buzz of excitement today in school as our big surprise was unveiled! The children were full of enthusiasm for our Book Fair to begin! We have four cases full of exciting new books for pupils of all ages. The books range from infant/early readers to age 8+ |

Minecraft Maths We have been taking part in a Minecraft Maths project this year in P2. Some children are really showing great ICT skills and learning about counting and adding at the same time! It appears we have a few whizz kids in P2 who are improving their ICT skills more and more each week! Well done P2, keep up the super work! |
Cycling Proficiency Primary 6 and 7 pupils started their cycling proficiency training yesterday under the expert guidance of Mrs McVeigh. This fun scheme is part of our commitment to teaching our students life long learning skills. |

Little Flower Visit Primary 7 class made their annual visit to The Little Flower Nursery School See more Pics today to coach Mrs Herron and Mrs Lappin's young students. The Kingsisland pupils took along some of their sports equipment and devised some fun drills for the nursery pupils to complete. Everyone had a super time. 1st Communion 2016 Congratulations to our 23 primary 4 boys and girls who made their first holy communion today in Kingsisland. They were all a credit to themselves and their families. Thank you to Canon Benny for a beautiful ceremony. And thank you to the outstanding staff in Kingsisland primary school for working so hard in preparation to make today such a special occasion for our pupils. |

All Ireland Camogie Champion Today we were delighted to welcome, past pupil Nicola McKiver, back to Kingsisland. Nicola, a Tyrone minor Camog, brought in the ulster minor Camogie shield and the All Ireland C minor Camogie shield that she won with Tyrone, to show to the pupils. Nicola talked to the pupils about the hard work and dedication that she and her Tyrone colleagues put in to winning both shields. Nicola is a true inspiration to our young pupils and everyone in Kingsisland is so proud of her fantastic achievements!!!!!! Cuman na mBunscol Cup Kingsisland hosted the annual cuman na mbunscol Football blitz today in Derrytresk. 6 schools competed in separate boys and girls blitzes. Thank you to the Staff and pupils of Carland, Laghey, Caledon, Aughamullan and Derrylatinee for coming together and making for a super day's football. A special thanks also to the staff of Kingsisland for organizing, refereeing and ensuring everyone had plenty of refreshments throughout the morning. Thanks also to Derrytresk for the use of their excellent facilities. |
Communion Preparation The Primary 4 children have been putting the finishing touches to their preparation for First Holy Communion on Saturday. They are so excited for their special day to arrive! We can't wait to celebrate this most special sacrament together and we are so lucky to have St. Columcille's Church right on our doorstep to help us prepare fully and make it a day to remember. |

P2 Golf P2 just love getting outside for PE today! They enjoyed various games with even some children showing great promise in our Golfing activity. Watch out McElroy!! Library Visit P2 boys and girls loved visiting the library today. Mary the librarian read us a wonderful story by our favourite author Julia Donaldson and we were so excited seeing the new and improved book scanning system. Thank you to all at the library we hope to visit you again soon |

Joe's Big Surprise Joe in primary 4 got a lovely surprise this week in Kingsisland. His favourite Teddy bear 'Painter ', who has been with Joe during all of his many hospital visits, had a nose and eyes but no mouth. So when Joe told our school cook, Paula, she decided there was only one thing to do. So, to Joe's surprise, she sowed a brand new Smiley mouth on Painter. Such was Joe's delight, that it inspired him to write a fantastic story, all about Painter in Mrs McVeigh's class. Well done Joe and thank you Paula and Mrs McVeigh |
Garden Corner Visit The P1 and P2 boys and girls visited the Garden Corner in Cookstown today. Thankfully the sun shined all day and the pupils loved learning about the plants and even got to visit some lovely animals. Thank you so much to Dominic, Shane, Luke and Conor at the Garden Corner for making our trip more than worthwhile. We were lucky enough to have a lovely picnic outside and even sang Happy Birthday to the birthday boy, Luke in P1. We finished our day perfectly by planting our own seeds in our school green house. Ace Team Visit P2 The ACE team were helping us develop so many skills today in P2. We played memory games, completed jigsaws and worked on our fine motor skills also. We are even closer to getting on the 'write' track! |
Vikings Workshop Primary 5, 6 and 7 children had an exciting day learning about Vikings! A workshop was set up by Time Steps to allow the children to learn through completing different activities! Looks like Tom would make a great Viking warrior!

Old Time Toys As part of World Around Us, P3 participated in an excellent Time Steps workshop programme "Old Time Toys". Children enjoyed playing and learning about Old Time Toys as well as participating in follow up games and craft activity. Thank you Time Steps.

Easter Buns P2 have had an 'eggcellent' start to Easter. We started our day by making our Easter bun nests and then we decorated our Easter baskets for even more delicious surprises. To finish it all off we got to add the final touches to our fantastic Easter art project that had the children hopping all way home.

Spud Planting Primary 7 pupils used their last full day before Easter to plant their first crop of potatoes for this season. They worked tirelessly all morning preparing the soil. They then planted their potato seeds in perfectly manicured drills. Some very proud primary 7's!!!!!! |

Leprechaun Hunt P1s & P2s were on the hunt for the leprechaun today. The excitement amongst the boys and girls was at an all time high when we found a letter from Lucky the leprechaun. We followed different clues and even Fr Benny dropped in to help us track down the leprechaun. We thankfully had the luck of the Irish and found the pot of gold at the end |

Visit from Nurse Kevin Today Kevin a male nurse from Musgrave Park Hospital came to visit P2. We learned some wonderful things about being a nurse and got to pretend to be patients and nurses for the day. We got a chance to see what life is like as a real nurse in a hospital and all the boys and girls thoroughly enjoyed participating. It was an amazing learning experience for us all. A big thank you to Kevin from all in P2!

Jack and the Beanstalk P2 were so excited when they found a letter from the Giant today. We have been reading Jack and the Beanstalk and other stories with Giants and also have been focusing on measuring in Numeracy. We used the giant's footprints to measure various objects in school. Another giant step of success taken by all in P2 today

P1 Tasting Day P1 children were exploring their senses today! They had tingling taste buds as they tasted pickled onion, salt, sugar, lemon and Haribo sweets! Needless to say the sweets were most desirable! We were able to capture a few immediate reactions and facial expressions.

School Uniform Debate A short clip from today's fascinating debate on the issue of school uniforms. The P7 children put forward some very persuasive arguments for and against having school uniforms. Both sides were so convincing, the rest of the children couldn't decide which way to vote!

WW2 Workshop The Primary 4 children had a really exciting day learning all about World War Two on their workshop from Timesteps. They learned all about what it was like for children living during the war from the evacuation officer who showed us lots of interesting artefacts including a real gas mask and a ration book. The children made their own identity cards and gas masks. We were all shocked to see how little food we would have been allowed for a whole week! Thank you so much to the ladies from Timesteps for a brilliant day! See more pics

P1's making full use of their iPads P1 children were developing their speech and language in Literacy this week, with the support of an IPad. They created short stories with their own voice over, using the PuppetPal app. Learning made fun! |
CAMOGS REACH ALLIANZ COUNTY FINAL !!! Well done to our girls who reached the Allianz Tyrone county indoor Camogie finals today following their victory in the east Tyrone heat held in loughview sports centre. The girls who are the current Tyrone champions played with typical grit and determination to see off their challengers. There was some super performances from Chantel, Ashling, Ciara, Cassie, Ella, Cara, Aoife and Emma. The girls now travel to Omagh to try and defend their county title. Go Kingsisland girls!!! |

Well done to our young Hurlers The boys competed in the Tyrone indoor competition today at loughview sports centre. The boys, mostly made up of primary 5 and 6 pupils, distinguished themselves with great skill and determination. Although they didn't qualify for the county finals this year, they gained a lot of experience and will be back in the mix this time next year!!! |

P3 Assembly Today the Primary 3 class entertained everyone with their brilliant assembly all about New Year's Resolutions. They all said their parts very well and sang out beautifully. Well done P3! |

P4 PE in Derrytresk The Primary Four children enjoyed an energetic morning with our new Gaelic coach Conor. They were able to participate in all the games and drills despite the snowy weather in the great facilities in Derrytresk Hall. The children are looking forward to next week's PE already! |

P2 Literacy P2 pupils have been getting creative in Literacy this week. Inspired by the frosty weather, we wrote a story entitled 'if I lived in a snow globe.' The children wrote their own responses and under the careful guidance of Mrs Lowe, their imaginations were set on fire and their stories were brought to life. For all of us in P2...the cold never bothered us anyway! |

Minecraft maths was in full swing with a small group of the class and they loved learning about addition and counting using Minecaft. All the boys and girls can't wait to get their hands on an iPad to get involved with Minecraft Maths! |

P4 Adoration Primary 4 children had a lovely morning at Children's Adoration today with Mrs Quinn. They talked about the Holy Family and how important our families are to us. The P4 class are so lucky to have these special times for prayer and reflection, especially as we approach the important sacraments of First Confession and First Holy Communion. |

Choir sings in Ashbrook Nursing Home & Newell Stores The P4-P7 children travelled to Newell Stores today to sing some Christmas songs and spread some festive cheer. They did such a good job they were very kindly treated to a selection box each! They then went on their annual visit to Ashbrooke Nursing home where the residents were treated to some Christmas tunes on the tin whistle, accompanied by Master Convery on the accordion. |

Christmas Trip Some of the boys and girls in Kingsisland had their Christmas trip today. They got to meet Santa and his wonderful helpers and visit his magical grotto with lots of surprises inside. Then we travelled to Dungannon enterprise centre to see how recycled milk bottles can be made into an igloo and enjoyed even more fun activities! We are so lucky to be on the nice list this year in Kingsisland. |

Santa's Letter Box Some excitement today in Kingsisland! A big red post box appeared in the P2 classroom all the way from the North Pole. Much to our surprise, we found a letter from Santa inside. The boys and girls could not wait to post their letters in our very own special post box. The smiles on all their faces today would have been enough to light any Christmas tree! |

Busy Busy P1's School is a busy place at the moment, with rehearsals for 'Pirates of Kingsisland' and P1 children preparing for Christmas. They have been dressing up as elves, making toys and Santa has been making a list of all the wonderful children at our school. It's the most wonderful time of the year! |

After School Games It was time to 'seas' the day as the P3 & P4 boys and girls enjoyed a piratical twist during our after school games club today. Using hula hoops as boats, each group of pirates and sailors braved the high seas and it was anchors aweigh to get to safe land. The children also loved participating in the bean bag treasure tossing game. The sailors may have been full steam ahead on their ship but the crafty pirates got their hooks on the treasure first! |

Tri-County Football Our boys performed with distinction today at loughview sports centre in the Tri -county Football competition. All of our primary 5 6 and 7 boys had a super day and the experience gained will stand to them for future tournaments. |

P2 iMovie Project The Primary 2 boys and girls have been busy recording their voice-overs for our movie about our Autumn Hunt. The children decided what they wanted to say about our hunt and spoke so clearly for each of their individual recordings. The finished product made us all 'fall' in love with Autumn! |

Pupils Turn into New Teachers The P5 & 6 pupils accepted the challenge of playing teachers for the day in the P2 classroom. They set up 5 different fun activities for the P2 children and it is safe to say that it was an experience enjoyed by all. We love 'shaping' things up in Kingsisland. |

Circle Time Primary 2 pupils thoroughly enjoyed our circle time outside today. We have been talking about feelings and today we were talking about what makes us happy. It is safe to say from their smiles that all the boys and girls in P.2 are happy in our school. |

New Playtime Equipment Our new playtime equipment was finally installed today and pupils took little time before they began making full use of the PlayHouse,Tree Hut, Sand Tray and Cafe Front. More new equipment is on its way ensuring that Kingsisland pupils always have the very best facilities available. |

Halloween Bake Off We had a spooktacular time in P2 today. First we had a spooky bake off and made delicious pumpkin Rice Krispie buns. As if this wasn't enough fun, the kids were amazed by our 'tangfastic' pumpkin volcano. We love celebrating Halloween in P2! |

Autumn Adventure P1 children enjoyed an adventure out and around the school premises today, in search of signs for Autumn. They had so much fun, listening to the leaves under their feet and kicking the leaves into the air. We thanked God and Our Lady for our beautiful world. |

Kingsisland v Collegeland Primary 4 and 5 boys headed over the Tyrone / Armagh border today to play Collegeland PS. The boys had 2 very competitive games and made lots of new friends. There was an excellent display of Gaelic skills from everyone. |

Fireman Mark Fireman Mark came to visit the primary 5 and 6's today. The children learnt all about how dangerous fire can be at home and around Halloween time.They now know how important it is to have a fire escape plan and to check all smoke alarms every Monday! |

Hurling in P4 Primary 4 children had their second week of hurling and camogie coaching with John today. They are becoming more confident with the difficult skills and techniques and are making super progress already. |

Baby Eowyn Visits 1 P1 children had very special visitors today; baby Eowyn and her mum Clodagh. Children in P1 have been learning about caring for others and Clodagh helped us to learn about caring for a baby. Eowyn's big brother Luke told us about his baby sister too. The children asked questions, sang songs and cooed over the baby. A very memorable visitor. Thank you. |

P1 Assembly Today the P1 class entertained the whole school with their fantastic assembly. They said their lines brilliantly and sang two beautiful songs. After only three weeks in school they should be very proud of themselves! |

P4 Visit to Armagh Planetarium P4 travelled to Armagh Planetarium for a day that was 'out of this world!' We whizzed through Space in the theatre, built rockets and launched them outside. A great day was had by all of our aspiring astronauts! |

P1 Chalk Drawing Miss ONeill's primary 1 class took full advantage of the beautiful September sunshine today. They spent the morning making chalk drawings of each other. The whole playground was a sea of colour. And indeed the same could be said for some of the pupils. |

P4 Rocks
It was an action packed Wednesday in Primary 4 today! The children had a great art lesson with Mrs Lowe making owls out of toilet roll tubes. After lunch it was El Classico Kingsisland style with a tense Real Madrid vs Barcelona showdown as the children had their first soccer coaching session with Trevor.

P5/6/7 Big Band Project Primary 5/6/7 big band project began today. The pupils were introduced to their very own brand new wood wind instruments. This is going to be a very exciting project that will take place every Tuesday for the whole year. Mr Murphy and Mr Rooney will be our resident music tutors. |
Library Bus Visit The library bus visited Kingsisland today. Every class took the opportunity to exchange books and update their class library collection. Pupils are encouraged to take books from the each class library home each night to read. |

After School Clubs First after school club of the new School year took place today. The pupils were blessed with lovely September sunshine. They had a super time with Brian Lavery, who did lots of fun Gaelic skills. Thank you Brian. |

P4 Art Primary 4 children got creative on Friday and had lots of fun with their collage artwork for our display on Space. They worked really well in their groups and the result was very impressive. |
